Birding Workshop for Teachers

Teaching Birding to Teachers: A Workshop Funded by the AMRV RC&D Councils, Alabama Sierra Club and the Alabama Birding Trails project. The workshop provided educators across Alabama with a free, hands on workshop at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge near Decatur, Alabama.

Teachers learned the basics of bird identification, how to instruct children on the use of binoculars, creating a beneficial native plant garden at their school and opportunities for grants

After a walk around the refuge looking for birds and an hour inside the classroom, teachers took to canoes for an hour on the water.
