TVA’s proposed long-term energy plan

For any of those of you in the north Alabama area who'd like to make your voices heard on clean energy in the TVA region, please consider:

What: Learn about TVA’s proposed long-term energy plan and tell TVA you’re ready for equitable clean energy
When: March 19; 5:00-6:30 p.m.
Where: Huntsville - Huntsville Chamber of Commerce, 225 Church Street NW, Huntsville, AL 35801

TVA will hold a public meeting on its proposed long-term energy plan, also called an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). If approved by the TVA board later this year, the plan would become the blueprint for how TVA generates electricity for its customers over the next 20 years.

TVA released the draft plan last month, and this meeting is the chance for the Huntsville community to give feedback and ask important questions about it. TVA’s own analysis shows that it can speed the transition away from the use of fossil fuels to renewable energy and better efficiency while keeping our electricity bills low, yet TVA hasn’t committed to that path.

We need to let TVA know that we want to build an equitable energy future that protects our health and the environment!

We have great momentum right now! Last month, the TVA board voted to phase out two outdated and expensive coal plants, including Bull Run near Knoxville. We'd like to urge them to continue aggressively on the path towards carbon-free electricity, and to clean up coal ash. We could specifically urge them to discontinue a power purchase agreement with the dirty Red Hills coal plant in northern Mississippi. Our voices matter!
