Join us on Thursday, March 20, at 7 PM at the Woodward Park Regional Library when author and educator, Dr. Greg Goodman, will present: "A Walker's Companion: A Central Sierra Trail Guide."
A Walker’s Companion was first printed in 1999. It has since been reprinted three times. Most recently, the book is titled The Hiker’s Guide to the Central Sierra. This presentation will include the story of the book’s origin and include anecdotes from the author’s wonderful, adventure-filled days in the Central Sierra, including hikes in the areas around Huntington, Shaver, and Florence Lakes above Fresno.

A Walker’s Companion was first printed in 1999. It has since been reprinted three times. Most recently, the book is titled The Hiker's Guide to the Central Sierras. This presentation will include the story of the book’s origin and include anecdotes from the author’s wonderful, adventure-filled days in the Central Sierra, including hikes in the areas around Huntington, Shaver, and Florence Lakes above Fresno. Book illustrations were created by Andy Goodman, and botanical information was contributed by Master Gardener Pam Elam Geisel Plemmons.

After traversing the country for 75 years, Greg and his wife Andy have retired to The Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens in Fresno, California. Along the odyssey, 16 years were spent living in Shaver Lake. Shaver Lake is the gateway into the Central Sierra and from there grew the inspiration to explore the beauty nature provided. Greg is Emeritus Professor of Educational Psychology and the author and editor of 50 books on topics ranging from hiking to educational psychology.
