Tampa Bay Sierra Club

Welcome to the Tampa Bay Group!

Tampa Bay is one of 15 groups of the Florida Sierra Club chapter and is made up of more than 2,700 supporters of the environment living primarily in Hillsborough, east Pasco, and east Hernando counties.  In addition to monthly programs, our certified outings leaders offer hiking, biking, paddling, and camping trips. Our Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) program brings youth groups on outings to explore nearby nature and wildlife.  Our committees work hard on issues of regional importance such as phosphate mining, land conservation, clean water, climate change, and renewable energy. We also work with public officials and legislators both on the local and state levels to educate them on environmental issues that will impact the health of future generations.

Get Your Newsletter

Our newsletter is now monthly and distributed by email using the Sierra Club's email system.  We have learned that a number of people may have trouble getting the newsletter because of the way the Sierra Club handles unsubscribe requests.  If you are not getting email from the Sierra Club, we strongly recommend that you contact the national Sierra Club  Member Support  (415-977-5653)  and ask to be subscribed to local group (Tampa Bay Group) and chapter (Florida) emails only.  That should prevent any issues of too much email or annoying email.  Also check your spam folder, and if it is there, tell your email program to accept email from the Sierra Club.

Our newsletter is also here on this website under the Newsletter tab.  Newsletters since 2016 are under Newsletters->Archives.

Congratulations to our Tampa Bay Area ICOs

The Sierra Club Pelican starred our local ICO program in its latest newsletter.  Additional congratulations to Rocky for bringing this attention to our local ICO which currently has programs at schools in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Polk counties.
