Negotiated by the City of St. Petersburg, Hines, and the Tampa Bay Rays, this $6.5 billion proposal aims to redevelop nearly 90 acres of downtown St. Pete’s Historic Gas Plant District – land that was at one time forcibly stripped away from the Black community through the use of eminent domain. Rates will be increased for St. Pete and Pinellas taxpayers to cover the costs of the project, which includes a new stadium and othr associated developments.
