Fast track, also referred to as Trade Promotion Authority, is a piece of legislation that would allow the president to send already signed trade pacts, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, to Congress for a straight up-or-down vote with no amendments and a maximum of 20 hours debate. In other words, fast track would rush trade pacts through Congress and remove the ability of our elected officials to ensure that trade pacts protect communities, workers, and the environment.
The Sierra Club strongly opposes fast track – or any legislation that would minimize public and Congressional oversight over trade agreements.
Take action to ensure toxic trade deals don't get fast tracked!
