HARTFORD, CT. -- Today, Stop the Brookfield Compressor Station, Sierra Club Connecticut, and Conservation Law Foundation delivered a signed coalition letter to the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) opposing the expansion of a fracked gas compressor station in Brookfield. The letter, signed by 21 Connecticut climate and environmental justice groups, represents the latest outcry by advocates and community members against the proposed expansion project.

Chicago, IL – The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has weighed in for the first time on a legal challenge brought by a Wisconsin-based Tribal Nation against Enbridge, a Canadian corporation whose dangerous and outdated Line 5 oil pipeline has been trespassing on the reservation of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa for more than a decade.

House Republicans are threatening to withhold funding for the collapsed Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore unless President Biden reverses the pause on approvals for new methane gas exports, or LNG. In a visit to Maryland on Friday, the President reiterated his commitment to reopen the Baltimore port and provide federal funding. The funding would be allocated to the reconstruction of the bridge, which could take from 18 months to several years.

Washington, DC -  Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit affirmed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2022 reinstatement of its waiver authorizing California to set stronger vehicle greenhouse gas emissions standards and zero-emission vehicle requirements than the federal government.

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Last week, Oklahoma Gas and Electric filed its final resource plan with Oklahoma regulators. The Sierra Club submitted formal comments, emphasizing that the plan waits too long to stop burning coal at two mega-polluting and aging coal plants in the state.
