The Lake Erie Group (LKE) - serves Erie, Clarion, Crawford, Forest, Venango, and Warren counties, which is bordered by two environmentally important assets: Lake Erie and the Allegheny National Forest (ANF). While the smallest group in the Pennsylvania chapter according to membership, the group sponsors a variety of activities to keep its members active. Sierra Club Supports a Bottle and Can Deposit Program in Pennsylvania
Under House Bill 1191, sponsored by Rep. Shusterman of the Philadelphia area. Consumers in Pennsylvania would pay a 5-10 cent deposit per beverage container at the retailer or distributor. As an incentive to recycle, consumers would get that 5-10 cents per container back if they take them to a bottle redemption center. We encourage all Sierra Club members to write to your state congressman, asking them to support this bill!
JOIN our 2024 Annual Spring Cleanup
Our 24th annual cleanup is Saturday, April 27th. We'll meet near the Anna Shelter, @ 1555 E. 10th St, Erie, PA 16511. This event starts at 9am until Noon. We'll supply the garbage bags, safety vests, and gloves. See you there!
