Hike Mangan Woods in Franklin

Friday, Sept. 6, 3- 5 p.m.
Mangan Woods, 6750 S. 92nd St., Franklin

We will explore Mangan Woods with Jacob Sanchez from Milwaukee County Parks.

Mangan Woods offers opportunities to observe distinctive features of glaciation such as moraines, kettles, and glacial erratics while hiking through a beautiful upland old-growth forest.  The trail is easy and the tall forest canopy provides hikers with welcome cover from the sun and summer heat. We will have frequent stops to observe geological and ecological points of interest, and hikers may want to continue their conversations at the nearby Whitnall Park Beer Garden.

Here is an independent perspective from Eddee Daniel in his A Wealth of Nature blog: "A surprising hidden gem shaped by the glaciers!" https://awealthofnature.org/parks/mangan-woods/. (The photo above is from Eddee's blog.)
