Midwest Environmental Advocates: Recent Victories and the Road Ahead

For the Great Waters Group's January program, Tony Wilkin Gibart, executive director of Midwest Environmental Advocates, will give an update on the nonprofit law center’s recent victories and a look at what’s ahead regarding PFAS “forever chemicals,” concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), pipelines and more.

MEA, as a member of the Coalition for More Responsible Transportation  that includes the Sierra Club Wisconsin Chapter, is also involved in fighting the Department of Transportation's Interstate 94 expansion plan in Milwaukee.  MEA continues to advocate for a more just and sustainable alternative that prioritizes the health and well-being of people living adjacent to the corridor.

Since 2019, Tony has served as executive director of Midwest Environmental Advocates. Tony is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and earned his B.A. at the University of Chicago. Throughout his career, he has sought to empower people most impacted by legal and policy decisions so they can be a force for positive change.
