VT Adopts Bill to Ban Bee-Killing Pesticides Overcoming Gov. Scott's Veto

After nearly a decade of advocating for the banning of neonicotinoid pesticides, the Vermont General Assembly successfully overrode Governor Scott's shortsighted veto and adopted H.706. With a dedicated coalition of advocates and citizen activists Vermont can lead.

H.706 is a bill to ban the use of neonicotinoid-treated seeds and the application of neonicotinoids to various plants. The science about neonicotinoids is settled: they are highly toxic and do nothing to boost crop yields for farmers. They are so toxic that a single seed coated in neonicotinoids has the potential to kill an estimated 250,000 bees! Thanks to your advocacy, Sierra Club volunteer Judy Bellairs and VT State Representative Chip Troina for planting the seeds of change nearly nine years ago.
