Urgent Notice from The Group Election Committee

The following notice is from the Elections Committee of the Santa Cruz Group of the Sierra Club:

There were two errors on the mailed ballots:

     1. The mailed ballot said to vote for up to four candidates, when it should have said vote for up to three candidates
     2. The mailed ballot said ballots must be received by January 12 to be counted, when our website posting said January 2.

These errors were made outside of the local Group and were beyond its control.  Because of these errors, to minimize confusion and to be as fair as we can under the circumstances we have decided to accept, as valid, ballots which have votes for up to four candidates, and to count each of the votes on the accepted ballots. All five candidates have graciously agreed to accept the election results if we follow these procedures.

The three candidates with the highest total votes will become new members of the ExComm.

We have also decided that ballots received by January 12 will be counted.

We sincerely regret any confusion this situation may have caused.
