Tabling and Event Team Members

The Southern Nevada Group is looking for a team of volunteers to help organize and set up tabling events and social events. We are planning for 2 large events in March and April. Our PAC Fundraiser will be March 24th and we are co-sponsors for the 2024 Nevada Clean Energy Fair on April 24th. We are also planning tabling events that will be at fun festivals. Planning some member picnics during the year is always fun. Volunteers can choose to work one event or join the committee to plan, organize, advertise, etc. More details to come as this committee gears up. Many volunteers are needed.   • Volunteer at the Toiyabe Chapter PAC (Political Action Committee) Fundraiser Event

Sunday, March 24, 2024 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Join the organizing committee to plan for food, setup, speakers, auction items, and activities at our Political Action Fundraiser in the beautiful backyard of one of our volunteers. Political candidates from all levels will be there to talk with our members.  Help on the day of the event with setup, at the registration table, auction table, food setup, breakdown. Set up will start at 2:00 p.m.

Volunteer Needs Before event:

Volunteers to contact businesses or friends for donated auction items and build baskets. Basket-making party will be Wednesday, March 20th at 10:30 am to assemble some of the gift baskets for the silent auction.

Even if you can’t volunteer, please plan to attend this important event.

 

  • 2024 Nevada Clean Energy Fair

Saturday, April 21, 2024 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

4305 Dean Martin Dr #150, Las Vegas, NV 89103

WE ARE A SPONSOR! We will have a table and help with the event organizing. There will be education, keynote speakers, demos, food trucks, and more. How fun to be a part of this!

Volunteers will set up/tear down our booth and engage visitors (training provided). We will also help the larger event with any requests they have. Setup will start at 9:00 a.m. 



Potential Upcoming Events that will need volunteers:

  • Pride Festival tabling- Late September. Volunteers will set up/tear down our booth, engage visitors(training provided), and help with an art project at the booth.
  • Electric Vehicle week tabling - Early October. Volunteers will set up/tear down our booth, engage visitors (training provided), and help with a coloring table at the booth.
  • Wild and Scenic Film Festival tabling - October. Volunteers will set up/tear down our booth, engage visitors(training provided), and help with an art project at the booth.
  • Summer Picnic - June/July up on the mountain. Volunteers will book a venue, decide on food and shop, select a hike, games, help with communications, set up/tear down
  • Your ideas!!!!

 

Transit/Urban Planning Team

Southern Nevada Group is also looking for more members to join our Transit/Urban Planning team. The team meets once a month and volunteers can attend government meetings to advocate for planning around transit if interested. Volunteers are researching best practices examples of complete streets, equitable public transit, clean transportation, and urban planning with transit included. The team will be advocating by working with government leaders and elected representatives, and legislators. Given that the direct impacts of climate change are felt first and foremost at the local level, local authorities have a major influence on climate change adaptation - such as through their land use and permitting decisions. You can choose how much time you would like to volunteer on this team.

Outings Leaders

Do you like to hike or bike, camp, kayak?  Do you want to share your love of our area's natural beauty with others?  We are looking for Southern Nevada Group Outings Leaders!  All training (including Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification) will be covered by the Sierra Club. This is a fun way to get to know our great outdoors and make new friends in the process!
