Do you love the many recreational opportunities throughout the beautiful Las Vegas Valley? Are you a hiker, bicyclist, or camper who is interested in sharing that beauty with others who might not have many chances to “get out there”? Would you just like to find fellow outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the regions many recreational opportunities? Is there an issue affecting your favorite outdoor location that you would like others to learn more about? Would you like to share your love of wildlife, wildflowers or landscape photography? These are only a few of the many reasons why you might want to be an Outings Leader for the Southern Nevada Group!
You need not be a super hiker to lead outings. We only ask that you are capable of doing the activities that you choose to lead. These can be anything from multi-day backpack trips in the region to short lunch-time walks in local parks followed by a group picnic (and everything in between!). Any Sierra Club member who is 18 years of age or older can become an Outings Leader. We just finished a successful round of training, but we are ready to do more! The Sierra Club pays for all training expenses, including First Aid/CPR certification.
If you aren’t interested in leading outings, the good news is that we are starting up our Southern Nevada Group Outings program after an extended shutdown due to the pandemic. We expect to have some outings that you can enjoy within a month or so, watch this space! Our goal is to eventually provide a wide variety of outings that cater to all ability and fitness levels.
