Development/Fundraising
The Chapter’s Development/Fundraising Committee works with the Executive Committee (ExCom) and staff to implement an annual fundraising program to provide the financial resources the Chapter and its groups need to be successful. They build a culture of productive fundraising by identifying funding opportunities, recruiting new donors, thanking current donors, and finding ways to better engage donors throughout the year.
Volunteer Engagement
The Volunteer Engagement Committee develops and implements programs for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and placement on teams that support various chapter activities, programs, and office functions. The team onboards new volunteers, tracks their engagement, and celebrates their accomplishments.
Communications
Communications manages internal and external communications to advance the Sierra Club’s organizational and conservation goals. This includes developing messaging for Conservation campaigns, writing LTEs and Op-eds, posting on social media, as well as creating and distributing communications materials across print, online, visual, and other media.
Nominations
The Nominating and Recruitment Committee (NomCom) consists of at least three Chapter members, at least one non-Executive Committee (ExCom) member, none of whom may be a candidate, and is appointed annually by the ExCom not later than four months before the designated closing date of the election. The team recruits nominees for the Chapter.
Elections
An Elections Committee of at least three Chapter members, at least one non-ExCom member, is appointed annually by the ExCom prior to the scheduled date of mailing of ballots for Chapter and Group leadership elections (traditionally in December). No candidates may serve on the Election Committee. The Election Committee ensures a fair election is held each year for both the Chapter Executive Committee and the four Group Executive Committees.
