Dear Friend,
Everyday headlines describe our climate and environmental challenges. At the same time, elected leaders, organizations, and activists are working to advance solutions to protect our lands, waters, wildlife, and communities. We need you to help us secure a better future for everyone. Here are a few of the goings on this summer, and a few ways you can help. Make a choice today to be part of the solution.

Volunteer with US!
Whether you have a free weekend or just a spare hour, there are lots of ways you can put your time to good use volunteering with the Sierra Club. Join one of our teams, do important tasks on your own time at home, or hit the streets to build community and make a better world.
See some of our specific needs on our Volunteer Task Sheet, or fill out our Volunteer Interest form to share what types of activities you'd like to help with.
Some of the most important volunteer work will be helping elect environmental champions. Learn more about these needs here.

Environmental Justice in Nevada
What is enviromental justice? How do climate change, urban heat, air pollution, and decades of systemic racism impact Nevada's low-income residents and communities of color? What work is being done to bring justice to these frontline communities, and how can Sierra Club help?
Join Las Vegas native and Oberlin College student Tzetzangare Rosas-Perez, who has been the Toiyabe Chapter's Environmental Justice volunteer for the summer. She will share her experiences and answer the questions above. Join us on this virtual event to support this young scholar and activist.
Wednesday, August 17, from 6-7pm

Donate to Support Toiyabe Chapter's Work
We don't know how else to say it. Financial support from generous people like you helps us pay for the tools, expertise and volunteer support we need to be effective. Everything we do — protecting lands, water, and wildlife; finding climate solutions for our communities; and engaging elected leaders and the public to bring the change we need — all of it requires financial support. Please donate today to the Toiyabe Chapter. Be part of the solution.
All donations stay here in Nevada, Lake Tahoe and the Eastern Sierra to defend our hope for a future for all.

Reno Inspiring Connections Leadership Training for Volunteers, Sept 23-25
Reno Inspiring Connections Outdoors (Reno ICO) provides outdoor adventures and experiences to youth and young adults in Reno and Northern Nevada by facilitating individual growth and transformative experiences through snowshoeing, backpacking,
hiking, rafting and other activities.
ICO provides equitable access to the natural world, so all young people in our community can appreciate and care about our natural environment. We focus on environmental and outdoor skills education and leadership development.
Reno ICO will offer an Outdoor Leadership Training September 23-25 at the historic Clair Tappan Lodge. Learn how to facilitate safe and engaging youth backpacking & snowshoeing trips as we hang out, eat, play, hike & sing around the campfire!
Food, lodging, training and fun are free! (Donations are strongly encouraged.)
All participants are expected to attend two ICO trips in 2022-23. We would love a few experienced backpackers, hikers, and snowshoers, but we also welcome beginners. No experience necessary!
