Build Back Better Needs Your Help
Last week, the House passed the historic Build Back Better Act (BBB) thanks to hard work by you, other Sierra Club volunteers, and community leaders across the nation. We still have to get it through the Senate and onto President Biden's desk, but this is a huge step toward creating a more just, livable future for all. Celebrate this milestone and your contribution to it!
For the past several months, we've lobbied our elected officials, written hundreds of letters, made thousands of phone calls, and engaged our communities as part of a broad movement to demand our legislators act on climate, jobs, and justice by passing Build Back Better.
This legislation will be the country's biggest investment in climate action in history and our biggest investment in social programs since the New Deal. And we need your help to get it passed in the Senate.
Learn more here about BBB, the specific benefits it would bring locally, and how you can help get it over the finish line in the Senate.

Give the Gift of Climate Action
This holiday season, give the best present to your favorite people — a climate-resilient future. Across Nevada, Lake Tahoe, and the Eastern Sierra, Toiyabe Chapter activists have been contributing to climate action at every level:
- Federal (Build Back Better)
- State (Nevada Climate Strategy and Nevada Legislature)
- Local (Clark County and Reno sustainability plans; anti-sprawl activism and public lands bills)
We show up at meetings, lobby elected officials, spend hundreds of hours writing detailed comments on environmental plans, build partnerships and team up with activists like you to secure the best possible climate outcomes for our region and the planet. It's too late to avoid climate impacts like killer heat, drought, wildfires, smoke, etc. But it's not too late to make a difference for the future.
We find hope in these words from Rebecca Solnit:
"We still have time to choose the best rather than the worst scenarios, though the longer we wait the harder it gets, and the more dramatic the measures are required. We know what to do, and that knowledge is getting more refined and precise, but also more creative, all the time. The only obstacles are political and imaginative."
The Toiyabe Chapter combines experienced professional staff with passionate volunteers. We make a difference on important issues here in Nevada, Lake Tahoe, and the Eastern Sierra. Help us rise to meet our political obstacles imaginatively.
Give today.
If you're inspired to make a monthly gift, a generous donor will match you!

Southern Nevada Group
Help Create the Clark County Sustainability Plan.
Take the All-In County Survey
With Las Vegas' deadly summer heat, air pollution and Lake Mead's disappearing water, Clark County is on the front lines of the climate crisis. An important contributor to these ills is the region's carbon-intensive, resource-wasting sprawl development. The only way Clark County will avert even more catastrophic effects of climate disruption is a wholesale shift toward sustainability and resilience.
Luckily, Clark County's "All-In" project is gathering information to craft a county-wide Sustainability & Climate Action Plan, which will "outline the opportunities to address climate change and prepare for climate impacts in each part of our community."
Clark County residents, your voice, concerns, and recommendations are needed to inform the best solutions and underscore the County's urgency to act to avert the worst impacts.
