Sierra Club Toiyabe Chapter

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Are you ready to make an impact? Become an AmeriCorps member in Reno today with the Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club!

Join one of the largest, most effective environmental organizations as we engage people on climate change, public lands, wildlife, water, sprawl, and renewable energy.

Mission:
To explore, enjoy and protect the planet. To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out those objectives.

Position Description:
The Sierra Club is a powerful nonpartisan environmental organization because we connect people who care with opportunities to make a difference in our communities. The Sierra Club’s Engagement Coordinator plays an important role by helping to educate Sierra Club members and the general public—online and in person—about important topics—energy use and climate change, nuclear waste and Yucca Mountain, and our region’s treasured public lands.

The Engagement Coordinator will engage northern Nevada communities around our goals to create clean air & water, healthy communities and renewable energy. Learn strong digital skills, and spend time outside at public events, as a Sierra Club outings leader, and building relationships with other organizations serving the community. Special opportunities available to work some of the time in Lake Tahoe and Mammoth and Bishop, Calif.

Throughout, the Engagement Coordinator will have access to the training, support and resources of one of the nation’s largest and most powerful environmental organizations.

This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership
and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference in the lives of people throughout the region and for our shared natural resources.
