Controlled access to Mt Grant now allowed by the US Army

The RGJ is reporting that access is going to be allowed to recreationists wanting access to Mt Grant in the Wassuk Range just north-west of Hawthorne. The summit of Mt Grant, over 11,000 feet, offers dramatic views of the Sierra to the west and Walker Lake at its eastern base as well as far into Nevada.  See details in the story for the number to call for access to the gate at the bottom of the canyon road leading up to Mt Grant.  Access to Mt Grant has been closed since 2001 by the US Army which runs the Hawthorne Ammunition Depot.
