AUSTIN, TX - As the Texas legislature begins filing bills for the 2025 session, the Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter is preparing to stand at the forefront of environmental advocacy, ensuring that Texas' future is sustainable, affordable, clean, and just. With over 1,500 bills filed so far and plenty more expected, the Sierra Club will provide expert analysis and advocacy on the state's most pressing environmental issues to legislators, media outlets, and everyday Texans alike.

“We’re entering this session ready for action,” says Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter Director, Dave Cortez. “Texans deserve clean, reliable energy, protection from the worst impacts of climate change, and a government that puts people ahead of profits. We are here to hold lawmakers accountable and provide clear, actionable solutions for the challenges facing our state.”

As bills continue to flood the legislature, the Sierra Club will be a critical resource for constituents seeking insights on key environmental issues like energy reform, air and water quality, and the fight against the fossil fuel industry. At the Capitol, where hundreds - potentially thousands - of bills are introduced and only a fraction are signed into law, identifying a trusted source of information is essential.

In an effort to make legislative insights and action accessible to Texans across the state, the Lone Star Chapter has launched their Legislative Action Network - which anyone can join using this online form. The next meeting of the Legislative Action Network will be held virtually on Saturday, December 14, 2024 (register here), during which attendees will learn more about the Lone Star Chapter's Legislative Agenda, and how to reach and communicate with their legislators in support of key environmental policies. Anyone is welcome to join.

The Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter brings decades of expertise in advocacy, grassroots organizing, and policy analysis. Whether it's defending against attacks on renewable energy or pushing for more investments in energy-saving programs, the Sierra Club is positioned to help Texans navigate the complexities of the upcoming legislative session.
