Looking for a job in the environmental field? Want to join the fight for climate justice while working alongside grassroots leaders and frontline communities? We might have the job for you. There are three open positions with Sierra Club in Texas! The Lone Star Chapter is hiring a Chapter Director and a PAID communications intern. National Sierra Club is hiring a Brownsville organizing representative for the Beyond Dirty Fuels Campaign!
First, the Lone Star Chapter is seeking an individual who is interested in continuing to grow our work for sustainability, environmental justice, and a more equitable society to become our next Chapter Director. The ideal director would help us establish good partnership with other environmental and social justice organizations, and help us continue to raise money and expand our reach in Texas. We will keep the application process open for at least a month, with the aim of getting a great person in by October 1st, or before if possible. See here for more details and to apply!
For the Chapter communications internship, we're looking for a creative individual who is passionate about climate justice and intersectionality in the environmental movement. The communications intern will work with our Communications Coordinator to create and promote social media content, write and edit content for our website, blog, and email sends, develop strong messaging for our various campaigns around Texas, and assist in creating or promoting press materials, among other duties. This position is a great opportunity to learn how to use your creativity strategically! This is a PAID position of $15/hour for approximately 20 hours a week. Due to the Covid-19 emergency and the length and impact of the emergency is still so unknown, as well as Sierra Club’s commitment to protecting community health, this internship may be a work from home position. Check out the job details here!
Lastly, the National Beyond Dirty Fuels Campaign is hiring an experienced organizer to lead their work challenging the oil and fracked gas industry, specifically focused on fighting fossil fuel expansion on the Gulf Coast. Working with partners and allies across the region, country, and even internationally, we are building a movement to keep fossil fuels in the ground, combat climate change, and protect communities from the impacts of fossil fuel infrastructure. The Organizing Representative will provide strategic organizing support and work with community leaders, partner organizations, and volunteer teams to challenge the rapidly expanding oil and gas pipeline and export infrastructure in and around Brownsville, TX and the TX Gulf Coast and support the transition to clean energy.
