Attend Barton Springs University Friday, September 18, and hear talks given by our director, our water resources coordinator, and many other water defenders and experts!

Barton Springs University is in session next Friday, and we hope you can make it out for a day of fun, relaxation, and learning. The event is from 8 am – 7 pm next Friday, September 18. We are especially excited to promote the event because our amazing director, Reggie James, and our indefatigable water resources coordinator, Jennifer Walker, will both be speaking. Reggie James will be delivering the keynote alongside Mayor Adler.

Barton Springs Pool is a beloved gem in the heart of Texas’s capital city where people can enjoy the cool, crisp water from the Edwards Aquifer that naturally bubbles up through the limestone. The beauty of the springs is a good reminder of what’s at stake in our fight to protect our state’s precious resources. Thus, it is the perfect outdoor classroom to learn about hydrogeology of the Edwards Aquifer, biodiversity and spring ecology, water quality conditions and challenges, water policy in a changing climate, and the cultural history of the springs. There will also be live music and snorkeling tours, so come out to celebrate and learn about our state's precious water resources!
