We are excited to bring on board two great interns this summer to bolster our communications team. Some of you may already know Madeline Detelich, who did some great freelance writing for us last year and this year. Holmes has proven to be a quick study, and is already making meaningful contributions to our work after just one week on the job. Where do these driven young professionals come from? And what makes them tick?
Madeline Detelich is a recent UT grad with a BS in biochemistry. Her experience working in research and industrial laboratories during and since school has led to an interest in effective scientific communication and education. She has recently shifted her career goals away from research to reflect this interest. She volunteers at the Texas Memorial Museum educating visitors on paleontology, is developing a science zine, and tutors in math and science. She also enjoys reading about ecology, evolution, and the environment. She loves the natural world and is excited to be involved in the fight to protect it. At the Lone Star Chapter, Madeline will continue to write original stories for our blog, in addition to assisting in the production of our chapter newsletter, conducting research on special projects, and adding to our social media presence.
Holmes Lybrand is stepping into his Senior year at The University of Texas studying Corporate Communication at the Moody College of Communication. Being a native Texan, an Eagle Scout, and a certified Mediator of Texas, Holmes is very interested in the environment, communication, and how Texas politics and nonprofits come together. He enjoys film, photography, collecting (slowly) vinyls, backpacking, sitting down with any piece of Hemingway’s literature, and most of all, doing each of these with his lovely wife Jocelyn. At the Lone Star Chapter, Holmes will help lead our efforts to build our presence on Instagram and LinkedIn, in addition to refining our overall social media strategy, and assisting with monitoring and analyzing media.
Sierra Club's Lone Star Chapter is always looking for bright, driven interns. If you are interested in learning more about our internship opportunities, please check out our internship pages and drop us a line!
