In recognition of the many years of service of all Sierra Club leaders to improving the environment and quality of life for all Austin residents, the Austin Sierra Club Environmental Leadership Scholarship awards $1,500 grants for books, tuition and fees, for high school seniors to use during their first year at an accredited college or university of their choice. The purpose of this grant is to encourage students to follow a life path committed to working to maintain a healthy environment.
Qualifications
1) Austin ISD graduating seniors. Note: Three of the scholarships are for seniors on free or reduced price lunch and one scholarship is open to any senior regardless of family income.
2) Plan to attend an accredited college in Fall 2023
3) Graduating on Recommended Plan AND passed all parts of End of Course (EOC).
Process
1) Submit a 500 word essay discussing how you have contributed as a Information leader or participant to helping the environment and how you plan to use your undergraduate education to continue working to improve the quality of the environment. If you have limited experience, you may describe the impact that you hope to have and any challenges you have overcome to achieve your goals.
2) Submit AISD Scholarship Application Form
3) Submit transcript with EOC scores.
4) Must provide proof of college enrollment before receiving funds.
