Chickasaw April 2021 Earth Day Celebrations Issue

Join Us Celebrating Earth Day: Think Global - Act Local

While the Covid-19 Pandemic continues, Sierra Club has suspended all in-person events through July 4, 2021.

This month's program will be presented virtually. We hope to see you in person later this summer.

Think Global- Act Local: Celebrating Earth Day (one week early)

Join the Sierra Club Chickasaw Group on April 15, 2021 as we acknowledge the history of Earth Day, environmental movements and the role the Chickasaw Group has played in these spaces. In addition we'll spend the latter half of our program in community rooms to learn more about one another, the topics we are most passionate about and our personal relationship with Earth Day.

Earth Day 2021

We will have 4 community rooms
  • Zero Waste & Recycling
  • Climate Change
  • Water & risks to our water
  • Paving Over Greenfields

We'll share 90 minutes together learning, connecting and creating both individual and collective action plans. This is our Earth and together we can honor, celebrate, protect and improve it!

Who We Are

Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.

The Chickasaw Group is one of five Sierra Club Groups within the Tennessee Chapter. We're based in Memphis and serve the 19 counties west of the Tennessee River. The Chickasaw Group works to protect the natural heritage of West Tennessee and the health and well being of human and wild communities.
