Rest in Peace
This poor koala didn't survive Australia's awful wildfires earlier this year
According to one estimate, the wildfires that swept through Australia in December and January may have killed as many as 1 billion animals. This koala barely escaped from a bushfire on the central coast of New South Wales and was brought to a rehabilitation center, where he was named Flash. Veterinarians cared for the animal as best they could, but he eventually succumbed to burn-related diseases and died in early February.
