Social Media Volunteer
About the Role:
The Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter communications team is seeking a motivated and creative individual to brainstorm, create, and post engaging content across social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok) to advance campaigns and boost engagement.
We are looking for a self-starter with a basic understanding of social media and content creation with a willingness to create a consistent drumbeat of content across platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Content planning under supervision of Communications Associate
- Start to finish content creation: conception of idea, creating of assets, posting content
- Maintaining and engaging with commenters and followers on social media, monitoring accounts
- Reposting and uplifting partner organizations/campaigns
Must-Haves:
- Attention to detail
- Basic knowledge and comfortability using a variety of social media platforms
- Comfort working remotely
Nice-to-Haves:
- A commitment to environmental and social justice, and the Sierra Club’s mission.
- Knowledge of social media trends and algorithms
- Interest in creating and maintaining relationships on social media
- Creativity
- Flexibility to work at a fast pace to stay abreast of trends and campaign needs
- Advanced equity skills and practice. Commitment to, and an understanding of, concepts of equity, justice, and inclusion in the workplace and a demonstrated ability to effectively work and collaborate across differences and identify and intervene in problematic dynamics across identity
