Do you ever find yourself strolling along the beach, enjoying our stunning Bay Area shorelines when you come across a piece of trash in the sand? Do you think, “I wish someone would do something about this”? Now you can!
Join our chapter and SF Baykeeper for monthly beach clean-ups, located at a different Bay Area beach each month.
Our local watersheds and shorelines are critical to the health of the Bay and our communities. Not only does pollution make our beach experience less enjoyable, but it has lasting harmful impacts on our ecosystems and wildlife. Participating in a clean-up is a fun and meaningful way to make a difference. You’ll help make a dent in the Bay Area’s shoreline trash problem, and you will make new friends while enjoying the beauty of our local beaches.
Our next clean up is THIS SATURDAY, November 19th from 9am to 11am at Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland.
We’ll meet at 9am at the Tidewater Boating Center located at 4675 Tidewater Ave, Oakland, CA 94601. The shoreline has rocky banks, so please make sure to wear sturdy shoes or rubber boots. You may also want to bring sunscreen and a water bottle. Clean-up materials will be provided.
If this month’s clean-up feels too far out of your neck of the woods, don’t worry! We will rotate locations and aim to clean up every beach around the Bay. Be sure to keep checking out our activities calendar for future dates. If you’d like to learn more or join our Shoreline Clean-Up Google Group, please email dani.zacky@sierraclub.org.
