Goals by 2030: Exceed 50% reduction in oil use;
More than 50% of state’s cities and counties adopt comprehensive, sustainable Climate Action Plans that include citywide GHG reductions to the equivalent of 40% below 1990 levels by 2030, plus 100% clean electricity by 2035.
In 2018: Work with national Club, SCC ECC staff, chapters, and CNRCC Transportation Committee to:
- Support effective, science-based city and county climate action plans and sustainable general land use plans that achieve the statewide 2030 GHG emissions reduction goal by identifying and achieving climate-stabilizing targets (and implement plans with regular measurement and reporting of progress);
- Support Transportation Committee’s efforts to reduce vehicle miles traveled (including expanding transit, biking, walking; complete streets; pricing incentives; working with state, regional and municipal planning agencies; etc.);
- Promote electric vehicles and car sharing, including charging facilities in multi-family buildings;
- Reduce diversion of EV charging station money to so-called “hydrogen highway”;
- Expand charging stations (also challenge excessively expensive charging stations);
- Expand rebates for low income people to buy an electric car’
- Support zero emissions goods movement and buses;
- Regulate, restrict and reduce fracking;
- Oppose oil by rail;
- Support limits and/or reductions of emissions from refineries;
