Los Serranos Meeting 4/21

California Desert Conservation and Recreation Act

The monthly meeting of the Los Serranos Group of the Sierra Club is Tuesday, April 21, at 7:00 PM.  Monica Argandona, Southern California Conservation Director of the California Wilderness Coalition, will be speaking about Dianne Feinstein's proposed California Desert Conservation and Recreation Act.  Meeting is held upstairs in the First Presbyterian Church Education building, 869 N. Euclid Ave, Upland, take the left side stairs.   New members and the public are welcome.

Monica Argandoña is the Southern California Conservation Director and has been with CWC since January 2007.  Monica has a MA in applied anthropology from Cal State Long Beach and studied cattle ranchers in Northern California.  She also holds a PhD in anthropology with a focus on environment and cultural and political ecology from the University of California, Riverside and wrote her dissertation on the land conflicts in the desert. She is an Associate Professor at the University of La Verne and teaches California Environmental Issues at Cal State Long Beach. She previously worked for Senator Dianne Feinstein in Washington, DC and also has experience in development and event planning.
