A Democratic Sierra Club Demands Grassroots Participation
The annual election for Sierra Club’s Board of Directors is now underway. Member participation is critical for a strong Sierra Club.
Those eligible to vote in the national Sierra Club election should have received ballots in early March by mail, or digitally if you chose the electronic delivery option (search your inbox for an email from sierraclub@mg.electionservicescorp.com). Your print or digital ballot will include information on the candidates. If you are a member and you have not received your ballot, please contact Sierra Club member services at member.care@sierraclub.org. You have until 9:00 am PST/ Wednesday April 22 to cast your ballot.
The Sierra Club is a democratically structured organization at all levels. A strong Club requires the regular flow of views on policy and priorities from its membership in order to function well. Our grassroots structure is strengthened when participation in elections is high. Voting is your opportunity to have a say in what the future of the Sierra Club looks like.
Members frequently state that they don’t know the candidates and find it difficult to vote without learning more. So how can you learn about the candidates? Each candidate has provided a written statement about themselves and their views on the official election ballot. You can learn more by asking questions of your group and chapter leadership and other experienced members you know. You can also visit the Sierra Club’s election website for additional information, including campaign videos from each candidate: www.sierraclub.org/board/election.
The San Francisco Bay Chapter recommends a vote for Igor Tregub, Marion Klaus, Ramon Cruz and Natalie Lucas.
