Former coal miner advocates a Just Transition at June 17 & 18 events

This week, the Bay Area has two chances to hear from Nick Mullins, a former coal miner from southwestern Virginia. After leaving the mines at age 30, Nick embraced a new environmental ethos and became an advocate for a just energy transition for Appalachia. Join us at events in Oakland and Richmond to hear Nick talk about life after coal mining and how he and his family are using their story to facilitate a dialogue about coal in all corners of the country.

Oakland Event:

Mullins will address the jobs-versus-environment debate and our nation's divide between rural conservatism and urban liberalism. He considers the best means of bridging this cultural disconnect to be a just transition to a clean energy economy that provides immediate job alternatives to those who need them. By illustrating the need to work harder to establish common ground, he builds hope to achieve a sustainable future for generations to come.

Join us to be inspired and challenged by this engaging speaker!
