With the Trump administration's attacks on the environment ramping up, it's more important than ever to gather together this Earth Month and celebrate Mother Earth. Join the Bay Chapter at the following festivals, film fests, work parties, and marches all over the Bay Area in honor of Earth Month 2017.

Oakland EarthEXPO: Environmental Fair

Thursday, April 6, 10 am - 2 pm
Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, 14th & Broadway, downtown Oakland

EarthEXPO is an annual environmental fair hosted by the City of Oakland Public Works Department. The fair highlights transportation, environmental health, waste reduction, water, energy, urban design, nature and community themes. Approximately 100 exhibitors will gather to showcase their contributions for a sustainable environment to an estimated 2,000 attendees. The goal is for Oakland EarthEXPO attendees to leave with information and resources for sustainable living.

EarthEXPO is a great place to connect with environmental and community groups, green businesses and artists; learn environmental tips; participate in hands-on activities; pick up great giveaway items; and enjoy delicious food!

Berkeley Bay Festival

Shorebird Park, 160 University Ave, Berkeley Marina

This wonderful FREE event first happened 80 years ago when the Marina first opened in 1937. The Bay Festival now showcases activities and environmental education that are available here at the Marina and all around the region. Come celebrate the Earth and our Bay by listening to music, eating wonderful food, and enjoying a day by the Bay.

East Bay Climate Action Expo

Discover what our local community here in the East Bay is doing to make a difference on climate change. Find out how you can have an impact on this critical issue.

Leonardo DiCaprio's acclaimed film, Before the Flood, will screen at 7 pm in the Brower Center's Goldman Theater. Before the Flood explores the topic of climate change and discovers what must be done to prevent catastrophic disruption of life on our planet.

Please note that the Climate Action Expo is FREE but we recommend that you purchase a ticket in advance to secure your seat for the film.

Sustainable Rossmoor Earth Day

The theme for Earth Day 2017 is "Our Choices, Our World". We hope to inspire, educate and demonstrate how our everyday choices affect the sustainability of our planet. This year exhibitors will tailor their demonstrations to focus on ways Rossmoor residents and staff can become better stewards of the earth.

There will be a display of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, demonstrations on planting a succulent container garden, and what goes in your recycle bin.

The Rossmoor Jazz Club Band is sponsoring the Hot 4 Jazz Band, providing a fun, musical lift to our festivities.

SF Green Film Fest presents: "4 Wheel Bob"

Join us for the USA premiere of 2017 Green Fire Award Finalist, "4 Wheel Bob". Get on the trail with intrepid adventurer Bob Coomber, who sets out to be the first wheelchair hiker to cross the 11,845 foot peak of Kearsarge Pass in the Sierra Nevada. Despite the ups and downs Bob’s energy and enthusiasm to get everyone to enjoy California’s great outdoors is infectious.

March for Science San Francisco

The March for Science celebrates public discovery, understanding, and distribution of scientific knowledge as crucial to the freedom, success, health, and safety of life on this planet. We are a nonpartisan group, marching in support of the following goals: Communication, Funding, Policy, Literacy, and Diversity.

A rally with invited speakers will start the event at 11 am in Justin Herman Plaza. After the rally at approximately 12:30 pm, we will march down Market Street to Civic Center Plaza, ending with a fair to celebrate science.

John Muir Birthday & Earth Day Celebration

Alameda Earth Day Festival: Love Our Green Island

Fremont "Let's Go Green Together" Earth Day Fair

People's Climate Movement Bay Area Earth Day Event

Come to the lake for a family-friendly event which will feature local community members, climate activists, musical and spoken word performances, climate scientists, information booths, and a variety of hands-on activities for all ages. Then link hands around our Lake. Spread the word, we need everyone to show up!

Albany Arts & Green Festival

Sunday, May 7, 11 am - 3 pm
Memorial Park, 1325 Portland Ave., Albany

This event celebrates Albany’s commitment to the environment with live youth performances and green resources. Booths offer ideas for saving energy and water, connect you with local green organizations, show you how your food and lifestyle choices can make a difference, and showcase City of Albany projects. Grab some free compost, park your bike for free, or get a low-cost bike tune-up!

Booths include green organizations, vendors of green solutions, local artists, City of Albany Departments, and more. Come learn about gardening and urban farming, permaculture, the benefits of eating fresh organic produce, seed sharing, and raising chickens. Peruse information on reducing waste in and around the home, check out energy efficient solutions including solar panels and window replacement, and examine electric cars.

There will be a kids art booth with various activities in our children’s area. Vendors will offer kid friendly items like hula hoops. Chalk art will be happening near the performing arts stage, and of course the Memorial Park playground is right at the festival.

The main stage will be going from 11 am to 4 pm with local entertainers. Four food trucks will offer a wide variety of delights, including vegetarian options. Bring a blanket and make a picnic in front of the main stage.
