The Bay Chapter's Oakland Tree Team has a special tree-pruning event scheduled for this Saturday, September 24th, from 9 am to 1 pm. Oakland has thousands of street trees have been neglected for years and need attention now so they can grow stronger in the future.
We pruned a few hundred dormant deciduous trees over the winter, but summer/fall is a good time to prune evergreen trees, and well as trees such as ornamental pears that are at higher risk of disease during the rainy winter.
The location is still TBD; we have been scouting some possible locations and we'll choose one later this week. Please check our Meetup page for an update by Friday.
As always, we supply the tools, and our experienced team leaders will train and supervise any volunteers new to pruning. Chris Buckley and I will lead the group. Call me at 510-435-2452 if you're running late or get lost on Saturday.
We are preparing to plant the first trees of the 2016-17 planting season in November. We'll send a notice when we schedule the first event.
If you think other friends, neighbors, or colleagues would like to know about our events, please share this post with them.
