  • Doug Mason – Chair:
    • Doug has degrees in agronomy and worked as a soil scientist/conservationist for the U.S.D.A. Natural Resources and Conservation Service and for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. He has also worked with the National Center for Appropriate Technology and was the Director of Pollution Prevention for the Hoosier Environmental Council in Indianapolis.

  • Kelly Forest - Vice-Chair and Banff Coordinator:
    •  Kelly is a former science department chair and physics teacher at an all-girls high school.   She continues to educate on climate change, composting, climate justice through social media.   Her family has worked very hard since moving to State College in 2008 to become a net zero household.  They have geothermal energy, 53 solar panels, a highly insulated house, which reduced their energy use by40%, and a used electric vehicle for around town.  Kelly is always willing to talk about her house or any environmental issue.

  • Richard McCorkle:

    · Rick has degrees in wildlife management and applied ocean science. He worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 34 years, leading habitat restoration and protection efforts, and recommending fish passage and other conservation measures at hydropower dams. A former VP of the Delaware Native Plant Society, Rick enjoys landscaping with native plants. His current focus in the Moshannon Group is on climate change impacts on fish and wildlife and improving EV charging infrastructure.

  • Steve Lachman – Membership Chair:
    • Steve has served on the Moshannon Group’s Executive Committee since 2009. He holds a law degree from Vermont Law School and a Ph.D. in geography from Penn State. Before moving to State College, he worked as an attorney for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and also served as chair of the Allegheny Group of the Sierra Club. He leads service trips for the Sierra Club’s national outings program and is currently the editor of SCMG's newsletter.

  • Claire Holzner
  • Claire is a semi-retired instructor of English as a Second Language and writing at Juniata College. She is a co-founder of the Coalition to Save Old Crow Wetland (2022), which opposes a planned truck stop next to a beautiful wetland in Huntingdon. Claire has planted over 200 native trees and shrubs on her property and in the Huntingdon area through the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Ten Million Tree project, and is removing barberry, stilt grass, and other invasive plant species. She’s a graduate of the Pennsylvania Master Naturalist program and is especially interested in plant-based diets, the impacts of our food choices on the environment and animals, and fighting climate change.

  •  David Roberts:  
    • David is currently serving as the replacement for Joan Bouchard who stepped away from her leadership role.  David is an avid naturalist with emphasis on environmental water quality. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Penn State University and has over 40 years experience in environmental protection.
