Ohio Beyond Dirty Fuels Campaign

Over 30 organizations joined Buckeye Environmental Network, Earthjustice and Sierra Club in petitioning the US EPA to revoke Ohio’s primacy (authority) over the class II injection wells. Currently, Ohio’s Department of Natural Resources has authority and has failed to meet requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act and carry out its environmental justice obligations under federal laws.

Help protect Ohio families from radioactive oil and gas waste by making one phone call TODAY, Wednesday, Nov. 2nd!

Ohio’s class II oil and gas waste injection program, consistently fails to act against violations, allowing serious problems to continue unaddressed, posing threats to our drinking water and public health. Ohio communities have been living with leaking class II injection wells, accidents, blowouts, and spills for years. And, Ohio does not have a way for impacted residents to file a formal complaint.

Please help protect Ohio families by taking 5 minutes to call US EPA Administrator Debra Shore TODAY, Nov. 2nd at 1-888-445-5134. Phone script here.

Sierra Club defends environmental protections at Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals

In 2020, the Trump EPA began efforts to repeal the air nuisance rule provision Ohio's Clean Air Act State Implementation Plan. Sierra Club has been fighting to stop this repeal and keep in place this critical tool. On Wednesday, October 19th, Sierra Club argued in front of the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeal in defense of the ANR and why the EPA was in the wrong to remove it. Read about what led to the rollback effort HERE, the court hearing HERE and listen to a recording of the oral argument HERE.

Re-Imagine Transportation

Transportation Justice Dialogue

Transportation is a significant source of air pollution and has the most prominent, fastest-growing climate emissions in the U.S. We can tackle the climate crisis and clean up our air by shifting to pollution-free vehicles, accessible public transit, and making our communities more walkable, bikeable, and transit-friendly. Everyone should be able to rely on clean and safe transportation regardless to zip code, race, income level, age, or any other factor.

We need Clean Transportation in Ohio - let's talk and figure out how we can make it happen. Join us on Saturday Nov. 5th at the Hilltop Library, Columbus, Ohio.  Register today.
