Inflation Reduction Act Delivers Over $176 Million in
Solar for All Funds for Ohio

Ohio – Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Ohio was awarded over $176,000,000 in funding through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund’s Solar For All program. The competition, created by President Biden’s landmark Inflation Reduction Act, seeks to enable low-income and disadvantaged households across America to access the benefits of low-cost, clean solar energy—benefits that include home energy savings, energy resilience, improved air quality, wealth building, and quality jobs.

Ohio was one of 50 states and territories, 57 municipalities, and Growth Partners was one of the 113 eligible nonprofits that applied for funding through the program. A complete list of recipients of Solar For All awards can be found here.

Clean Energy Is the Path to Prosperity for All. In Ohio, Clean Energy will create well over one-hundred-fifty thousand (150,000) new union-living wage jobs by 2035.

The climate law authorized $7 billion in funding for the program, but by last year’s application deadline, the EPA had received requests totaling more than $38 billion.

“As we leave winter's cold grasp and prepare to enter into summer’s warm embrace, the rise in heating and cooling costs is tormenting ratepayers across the state. The demand for relief is palpable. The promise of clean energy is paramount and imperative. Solar for All is a ray of hope for many low-income households in Ohio.”

-Chad Stephens, Sierra Club Ohio Staff

"It's crucial for our state government to significantly increase its investment in Clean and Renewable Energy infrastructure. Ohio has suffered from insufficient investment in this area since 2014, particularly due to the Wind Setback law. Presently, HB 501 restricts local zoning to solar projects under 50 MW. Unite with Sierra Club Ohio to advocate for fair and inclusive reforms in Clean and Renewable Energy."
