Ohio Chapter Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) program revitalized with hopeful plans for the future |
Sierra Club Ohio has been working diligently to revitalize its Inspiring Connections Outdoors program (ICO). ICO is at the center of the Sierra Club's efforts to expand outdoor access for children, youth, and families through direct, local programming at the grassroots level. The goal of Sierra Club's Inspiring Connections Outdoors is to empower youth from communities with limited access to connect and reconnect to the outdoors, for the benefit of both. ICO is guided by Sierra Club's Outdoors for All Theory of Change: by naming and reducing barriers to entry and ensuring all people have opportunities to explore and enjoy nature, we will improve lives while inspiring and empowering a new generation of leaders to protect the environment. We brought on an Intern in August 2023, who is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and training adult volunteers to lead ICO Outings and provide opportunities for youth across Ohio. Sierra Club Ohio has been identifying potential partner organizations who may provide an opportunity to recruit adult volunteer leadership from in the future. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Leader, have resources and ideas to share, and/or would like to participate as a partner organization, please contact Emma Hayes, ICO Intern, Sierra Club Ohio, at emma.hayes@sierraclub.org. Please also feel free to share this great information with your networks. |

Central Ohio: Arabic, Somali, Nepali/Bhutanese (Franklin and Delaware Counties) 2. Northeast Ohio: English, Spanish (Cuyahoga, Summit and Lorain Counties) 3. Why Should Everyone Support Community Aggregation? |
Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is a program that allows cities, counties, and other local governments to purchase electricity for their residents and businesses. This gives communities more control over their energy supply and allows them to choose to course their electricity from renewable sources. |
