April 3 & 4 Cleveland International Film Festival screening of The Erie Situation and an in-person panel discussion with the film’s director hosted by Sierra Club Northeast Group and several notable partners. April 5 Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act Info Session at 7pm. Register here to join Sierra Club Ohio, in partnership with Waste Free Dayton, for an online, interactive teach-in about the plastic pollution issue, and how the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act will address it. You will learn about the bill, receive supporting handouts, and ways for you to get involved and take immediate action.

April 7 Webinar: In Conversation with Dr. Rebecca Altman, author and environmental sociologist will be presenting on Thursday, April 7, at 7:00pm ET.  Rebecca has written a number of articles covering the history of plastics: Early history of 19h century/plant-based plastics (Science 2021), How Bad Are Plastics, Really? (The Atlantic - Jan 2022), 5 Myths About Plastics (Wash Post - Jan 2022), On the Plastics Treaty (Atlantic - March 2022), American Petrotopia (2015)

April 11 Billboard Contest Solid Waste Management District of Lorain County, Ohio is asking students to come up with a design for a billboard that will remind residents to Keep Lorain County Clean and Beautiful. The winning design will be used for promoting the Lorain County Beautiful Day Clean-up, which is a county-wide event that is held on the third Saturday of May every year. This event is part of the national Great American Cleanup and brings together more than 2,000 Lorain County residents who volunteer on this day of service. This contest is open to all Lorain County students. Deadline to enter is April 11th! More details here

April 19 All Our Might Street Sedar: Calling on Big Banks to Stop Funding on Fossil Fuels! Passover Action in Columbus.

April 20 Join us for the Monthly Statewide Plastics Committee Call as we discuss ways to reduce Ohio's unnecessary single-use plastic consumption. This will include state and local group updates, ways to get involved, webinars, and more! We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 6pm. RSVP today! 

Friday, April 22 Join Sierra Club Ohio in partnership with Waste-Free Dayton for an Earth Day Litter Clean Up from 2-4pm! We will be clearing Hamilton Avenue of litter, and will meet at the intersection of Hamilton and St. Jude. Trash bags, gloves, trash grabbers and safety vests will be provided. Join Sierra Club Ohio partnership with Athens ReThink Plastics to celebrate Earth Day at Historical Nelsonville Square from 3-9pm. This is a family-friendly Earth Day celebration with food and merchandise vendors, activities, and earth-themed entertainment. Stop by the Athens ReThink Plastics table and talk trash - as in plastic waste - learn about the health and environmental impacts of plastics and how to get involved locally to take action! 

Saturday, April 23 Join Sierra Club Ohio for a Forest Restoration Tree Planting at Eakin Road in Columbus from 9am-12pm! Over the past four years volunteers have been working to remove litter and invasive species, plant trees, and engage the surrounding community. Please register here if you plan to attend! 

Join Sierra Club Miami Group at the Greater Cincinnati Earth Day Festival celebrating “Water: Create a Ripple Effect to Protect” at Summit Park in Blue Ash from 12-5pm. Please come out & help us celebrate! Free to attend, more info here

Join Sierra Club Ohio partnership with Athens ReThink Plastics to celebrate Earth Day at Seaman's Cardinal Super Market located at 305 West Union Street, Athens, OH 45701. Athens ReThink Plastics will be handing out 300 upcycled bags - get one while supplies last! Stop by the Athens ReThink Plastics table and talk trash - as in plastic waste - learn about the health and environmental impacts of plastics and how to get involved locally to take action! 

Sunday, April 24th Join Sierra Club Northeast Group for a clean up at Huntington Beach in Bay Village from 10am-12:30pm! We will be cleaning up Huntington Beach and the trails surrounding the waterfront. This event is put on in partnership with Bay Village Green Team, BAYarts, and Lake Erie Nature & Science Center. May 12 Join Sierra Club for a Corporate Sustainability Roundtable Discussion! You will hear from leaders across the country who are working on corporate accountability campaigns as a tactic to reduce single-use plastics. What is Corporate Responsibility related to single use plastics? Why are these campaigns needed? Several examples will be shared. Time will be provided for questions and discussion.
