On Friday, September 24, a coalition led by student groups held a press conference in front of the fracked gas combined heat and power plant construction site on west campus, followed by a march to OSU President Kristina Johnson’s office to call attention to Johnson’s failure to take climate action seriously despite outcry from students, faculty, and other community members during her first year. Speakers included Anagha Velamakanni from Young Democratic Socialists of America at OSU, Victoria Abou-Ghalioum from GradRoots, Becca Pollard on behalf of Ohio Beyond Coal, Cathy Cowan Becker from Columbus Ready For 100, and Chandler Rupert from Students for a Democratic Society at OSU. About 50 students and other concerned community members turned out for the event.
Students for a Democratic Society livestreamed the event: You can find the video on their Facebook here. or search for SDSOhioState on Instagram.
