Listening Dialogues for Community Engagement

Cleveland’s Ready For 100 Campaign realized that for an equitable and just transition to 100% clean energy, community residents must be engaged. Therefore, a dialogue entitled: Clean and Affordable Energy to Create More Livable Communities For All was developed in partnership with Everyday Democracy. Everyday Democracy is a national organization committed to creating communities by assisting people as they talk and work together to create communities that work for everyone.  The dialogue provides a forum for participants to come together for four-two hour weekly sessions to listen to each other and share information on clean and renewable energy. The four sessions:

  • Making Connections and Laying the Foundation

  • Going Deeper: Understanding the Complexity of the Issue

  • Considering Options for Change

  • Setting Priorities for Action and Change

The outcome of the dialogue is to create sustainable change and action in the community.

Recently, a National Ready For 100 Training was held in Chicago, Illinois to train Dialogue Facilitators from across the country to conduct listening sessions in their community. Dialogues continue to be held in Cleveland while rolling out in Columbus and other communities with the goal of engaging residents in discussion and action towards a goal of 100% clean energy.
