Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners (ETP), the same company responsible for the Dakota Access Pipeline, is nearing completion of its 713-mile Rover Pipeline right here in Ohio, where it has already been cited more than 100 times by state agencies just during its construction phase, and is being sued by Attorney General Mike DeWine for its violations. Among its most egregious violations are a spill of millions of gallons of drilling fluid containing diesel fuel into a sensitive wetland area along the Tuscarawas River and the demolition of a historic house in Dennison, Ohio.
Once operational, Rover, which crosses the Ohio River in three places, as well as 17 other rivers, and lies in close proximity to groundwater wells, will put the drinking water of millions of people, including hundreds of thousands of Ohioans, in jeopardy.
In 2017 the Sierra Club Ohio Chapter broke many of the media stories that led OEPA and Attorney General Mike DeWine to hold ETP accountable, and has worked tirelessly to keep the public informed about these dangers, to empower impacted communities to stand up to this unscrupulous out-of-state company, and to put pressure on decision makers to protect the people they represent.
Now we need your support to continue to hold ETP accountable in 2018 and ensure they clean up after themselves when this pipeline becomes operational. Make a tax deductible donation today to help us continue to fight for safe water in Ohio!
