We need your help to protect Cowan Lake in southwestern Ohio. Cowan Lake is a beautiful place for sailing and paddling, with a great American Lotus population. For the past 47 years, the Sierra Club has run a paddle sports school and uses the peaceful lake to teach new paddlers. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is proposing to change the motor limit from 10 hp to unlimited. The noise, waves, and pollution from motors with unlimited horsepower would disrupt the ability of the Sierra Club and other visitors to enjoy the Lake.
Tell ODNR to Keep Cowan Lake Calm!
35 of the largest lakes in Ohio already allow boats with unlimited horsepower, it is important that some lakes remain preserved for paddlers, sailors, birders, and all visitors who enjoy a safe, quite, clean lake. By raising our voices we can stop the damage to Cowan Lake and keep it a tranquil place to enjoy nature.
