Hike to a magnificent freefalling waterfall in Pisgah National Forest near Brevard!
Join us for a lovely hike to an incredible waterfall! We will meet in West Asheville at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1. From there we will caravan to the trailhead and folks can carpool if they choose to do so.
Once we arrive at trailhead parking, after introductions and a brief overview, the group will then hike .6 miles up the trail to Moore’s Cove Falls. The trail is well-maintained with an elevation gain of only 154 feet to get to the falls. We will take about an hour to reach the falls stopping to admire the stream and forest views. We will learn a bit about stream ecology and water quality as well as Pisgah National Forest. We will spend about 30 minutes at the falls.
Be sure to bring snacks or lunch as well as water. Check the forecast and dress appropriately. We will plan to return at an easy pace back to the parking area by 2 p.m.
If anyone is experiencing COVID symptoms, is still in quarantine after testing positive for COVID, is feeling sick, and/or has a fever, they should not attend this outing. Families are welcome! Any children should be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members. Well behaved dogs will be allowed on this hike and must be on leash at all times.
