On March 2, at 7 PM, Phyllis Stiles, founder and director emerita of Bee City USA®, will tell the WNC Sierra Club how to alter gardening practices to ensure that the pollinators make the most of your yard. And you don’t have to sacrifice curb appeal to succeed. Hint: Your new little friends will be helping.
The North American Pollinator Protection Campaign named Stiles “Pollinator Advocate of the Year for the United States” in 2015, the same year the sister program, Bee Campus USA, launched.
Stiles spent her career at universities and non-profit organizations serving communities from West Africa to the Mississippi Delta, in fields ranging from natural resource and farmland protection to fundraising. Stiles is as fascinated by pollinator ecology today as she was when she founded Bee City USA in 2012. Today she volunteers her time with Asheville GreenWorks, the manager of Asheville's Bee City USA program.
