Clean Missouri, Amendment 1, won decisively in Nov 2018. It garnered support of over 60% of voters and over 70% of Missouri counties. Clean Missouri established a process to avoid gerrymandering of state districts, it severely limited lobbyist gifts, it lengthened the time between a legislator's retirement and when he or she can become a lobbyist, and it broaden coverage of the sunshine law to state legislators. Thanks to all who supported Clean Missouri, its passage is a huge success.

Unfortunately, this amount of transparency and good government was just too much for some politicians. The 2019 Missouri legislative session included several resolutions and a lot of hot air expended on myths about how Missouri voters were duped in supporting Clean Missouri. Fortunately, no legislation passed in 2019 to directly challenge Clean Missouri. We don't know what 2020 will bring.

To help protect and expand voter's rights further, another initiative petition, called VOTE 2020, has already been submitted to Secretary of State. But, at this writing, controversy over ballot language has resulted in a law suit and delay in signature gathering.
