Beyond the roads, campgrounds, picnic shelters and other development in Hawn State Park lies the backcountry and it's many miles of trails. These trails are maintained by the park staff and a core of volunteers. Join us in our effort to help maintain this system this October 23-31.

We will meet at the park office at 8:30 each morning where we will sign in and get ready for a short shuttle and hike to the work site. We generally work until 2:30 - 3:00 PM. This allows us to get back to camp by 4:00 PM. If you are camping for the night you may want to share dinner with the rest of the trail crew or join us in town for dinner at a restaurant. The day ends around the campfire with music and talk of past adventures.
One question often asked is. Can I do trail work. A simple answer is "Yes". If you can walk 1 or 2 miles to the work site you should be able to do one of the many jobs we have, raking leaves off the trail, hand sawing small trees, clipping and putting up signs and tread work. These are a few jobs you can choose. Remember you work only as hard as you want.
Help us connect hikes to the Missouri backcountry by joining us at Hawn State Park October 23-31. Hope to see you on the trail.
