This year our annual Chapter campout will be October 15-17 at a delightful camp on Sinking Creek near Round Springs. The distance from St. Louis is 148 miles which is about 3 hours driving. There is much to see and do at the camp and along Sinking Creek. We have hikes planned in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Here is the link to the ONSR website: www.nps.gov/ozar/index.htm.
We also expect to offer a tour of Pioneer Forest on Saturday. For more about the Pioneer Forest look elsewhere in this issue of the SierraScape.
The rustic cabins have wooden bunks for about 8 campers each and there is limited room for individual tents. There will be hikes, activities for the whole family, good food, a bonfire on Saturday evening and a chance to form new friendships and renew old ones.
The campout is put together by volunteers and all participants help out in some way. If you would like to suggest an event, assist with children's activities, plan or supervise meals, or just want to assist with odd jobs such as camp preparation or clean-up, we will really appreciate it.
