Earth Day Symposium

Missouri Botanical Garden
St. Louis Earth Day hosts an annual Earth Day Symposium at the Missouri Botanical Garden on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22 in partnership with East-West Gateway Coordinating Council and other organizations. The title of the conference is "Clean Water, Livable Cities: Models that Work", and it will present effective watershed management practices that have been implemented at national, regional and local levels. In addition, St. Louis Earth Day will co-sponsor a pre-conference watershed tour on April 18, as well as a post-conference Missouri River barge trip on May 2nd. There is a registration fee to participate in the symposium.
Earth Day in Forest Park
Sunday, April 27, 2003
The St. Louis Earth Day Festival will be on Sunday, April 27, 2003, 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on and around the Muny grounds in Forest Park. The festival will feature 5 eco-villages which highlight this year's theme, including a "Clean Air", "Clean Water", "Healthy Land", "Healthy Self", and an "Art" village. In addition, an intergenerational performance arts area will feature both a children's performance troupe stage and an elders' storytelling theatre. Festival attendance is free.
Three service projects in Forest Park also on Sunday, April 27, will provide volunteers with the opportunity to spend a few hours as eco-stewards, either planting trees, sowing wildflowers, or picking up trash.
An Earth Day Run for the Rivers the morning of the festival benefits four local non-profits working on clean water and healthy rivers. Run registration is $12 in advance.
Earth Day Around Town
April, 2003
Pick up your Planetary Passport in March or April at area institutions or events, including St. Louis Community Air Project with St. Louis Public Libraries, Saint Louis Zoo, Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, Gateway Center for Resource Efficiency, City Museum, Missouri Botanical Garden, Chesterfield Earth Day, Grace Hill Americorps Trail Rangers Project, Piwacket Children's Carnival, Missouri History Museum, St. Louis Teachers Recycle Center, and area State Parks. These institutions will also host April "Earth Day Around Town" events. Families who participate in "Earth Day Around Town" or selected festival activities will have their passport stamped, and will be eligible to receive rewards.
