Outings Leader Workshop
March 9 at Babler State Park
by Ann Eggebrecht
"Want to Lead an Outing?" Workshop welcomes wannabe's as well as old hands. The next workshop to train outings leaders will be held Sunday, March 9 at Babler State Park from 9:00 am to approximately 1:00 pm. Current leaders will discuss the role of an outings leader; the logistics of leading an outing; and proven ways to have "safe, happy, inspired" outings. Our group offers many good outings because our leaders are willing to share their time, talent and enthusiasm. People who like to explore the outdoors with others and have good people skills make excellent candidates. Outings also offer the chance to explore different areas that the Sierra Club has worked so hard to protect. Past workshops have drawn about 50 attendees, including the 8 committee members and other experienced leaders who share their own adventures, misadventures and insights to trainees. We'll have the new national Sierra Club Outings Leaders Handbooks available for $7. The workshop fee of $5 will cover the room, coffee, bagels and donuts. To sign up for the workshop or for more information, contact Ann Eggebrecht (314) 725-1560.
